About Instinct Archery

As a kid I started bow hunting at a young age because my grandfather was an avid bow hunter. I started out with a Herter's 21 # recurve and then graduated up to a 45 #. I still remember the first deer I shot at and missed!

After hunting with my recurve for 4 or 5 years (unsuccessfully!) my grandfather, dad, brother, and I all went to Anderson Archery in Grand Ledge, Michigan, where we all came home with new compound bows. It was a very exciting day as we got to meet our hero, Fred Bear, along with Pete Jennings.

After hunting with a compound bow now for the past 31 years or so and having harvested several deer, a bear, squirrel, raccoon, and rabbit, I decided to return to my beginnings and take up traditional archery again.

Don't misunderstand me. There is nothing wrong with modern bows, and many of my friends use them. I guess I must be getting more sentimental as I grow older because I longed to return to a recurve bow.

The problem was that I no longer had a recurve bow that I felt comfortable hunting with. So I got the idea to have my own custom bow made with the DeerSpace Buck logo burned through the riser. (I am also the founder of DeerSpace, but that is another story.)

I got my bow (unfinished) on Labor Day weekend and started shooting it like crazy. I brought my bow out to shoot for our annual Labor Day party, and people loved the look of it. It turns out that a lot of other hunters have the same taste that I have and wanted to know where they could buy my bow.

To make a long story short, Instinct Archery was born, and now you and many others like you can enjoy a bow that I have had a blast designing and shooting!

This bow has rekindled a newfound love for archery in me. There is something magical about being out in the woods in October with the autumn colors and the rustling leaves. I get excited just thinking about harvesting my game with my Instinct bow!

I hope that this bow can do the same for you, whether you are picking up a bow for the first time or have been an avid archer for many years.
